#OTD in history, 29 November 1530, Cardinal Thomas Wolsey died at Leicester Abbey. Born around 1470, Wolsey rose from humble origins to the acme of the Tudor court thanks to his exceptional grasp of foreign policy and mastery of ecclesiastical affairs.
Anne of Denmark, queen consort of James VI and I, was a keen patron of the arts, and frequently supported artists, writers, musicians, and architects at the Stuart and Jacobean court. Upon becoming Queen of England, Anne commissioned Inigo Jones, a leading English architect, to design the Queen’s House in Greenwich—England’s first classical building.

#OTD in history, 25 November 1487, Elizabeth of York, the wife of Henry VII and mother of Prince Arthur Tudor, was crowned queen at Westminster Abbey on St. Catherine’s Day.
#OTD in history, 23 November 1499, Perkin Warbeck was hanged at Tyburn. Claiming to be Richard, Duke of York, the second son of Edward IV and one of the legendary ‘Princes in the Tower’, Warbeck was imprisoned in 1497 after sparking a rebellion against Henry VII’s regime and proclaiming himself King Richard IV.
#OTD in history, 22 November 1515, Marie de Guise was born in Bar-le-Duc, Lorraine, France, into the powerful and most prominent Catholic family in France. As the mother of Mary Queen of Scots, Marie was a pivotal figure in the political and religious landscape of 16th century Europe. She ruled Scotland on behalf of her daughter from 1554 until her death in 1560.
